This is a plain-language summary of how Quiz Vanta handles data. Please have your legal team review and finalize it before launch, and replace the contact address below.
You do not need an account to host or join a casual game. Players choose a nickname only. We ask players not to enter personal information as a nickname, and we screen nicknames for personal details and offensive words.
For casual games we collect only what is needed to run the game: the nickname you choose, your answers, and your score during that game. We do not require names, emails, or ages from players to play. If you create an account for saved records or certificates, we collect the account details you provide.
Quiz Vanta is designed to be used by schools, families, and children. We practice data minimization, do not serve behavioral advertising, and do not sell personal information. When a school uses Quiz Vanta with students, the school directs the use of student data and acts as the party responsible for any required parental consent, consistent with COPPA and FERPA. Accounts and any records features intended for classroom use are gated behind school or parental consent.
Live game data (nicknames, answers, scores) is temporary and is cleared after the game ends. Account data, if you create an account, is kept until you delete the account or ask us to remove it.
We use game data only to run the game and show scores and leaderboards. We do not use it to profile players or serve ads.
You can play without an account. If you have an account, you can request access to or deletion of your data. Schools can request removal of student data.
